Beef Thymus has been touted in the food industry as a superfood valued for its ability to fortify the immune system, improve allergy health, reduce inflammation, aid in energy production and boost metabolism.
The thymus is responsible for many immune system functions, including the production of T lymphocytes, a type of white blood cell. The thymus is most helpful in immunocompromised animals because of its ability to produce antibodies. Thus, a weakened thymus weakens the body making it more prone to infections.
You can find them sold in powdered capsules for human consumption to combat against viruses and bacteria especially during the cold and flu season, but I like keeping them as a whole food treat for our pets!
It should be treated as a soft hormone secreting organ and should be fed around 5% of the daily diet.
